"Huh?" By now, the bath house was already closed for the day so it couldn’t be a customer. S’mourice got out of his desk and away from his stack of his papers to open the door.

After giving a small nod to her, the masseur set the tray down on the table before sitting down on a nearby bench. “How is that new arm of yours? Does it work better than the last one?”

"Well, it’s very nice for one thing..!" She said, "I can just barely feel touch in it, which I couldn’t with my last replacement.."

"It feels?" he tilted his head. "I’m surprised! Most robot characters can’t do that. Unless, their programming permits. Where did Cobalt procure that?"

“He got help from the tech development and research center…” She replied, “They find a lot of tech and make new things by learning from it. They’d developed artificial nerves, which could connect to the user’s main nervous system, and allow the feeling of touch.”

"Artificial nerves, huh?" Considering what Cobalt’s world is filled with, it would be possible to achieve such level of tech. "Probably not enough to mimic the sensations naturally, but it’s a good first step. Though, since when did Cobalt have an R&D division in his castle?"

"I never said anything about it being in the castle, Master Smourice." The lizardess replied, "There’s almost an entire district dedicated to the sciences! It’s almost like walking through one of the time portals, except you haven’t..! And I hear they do their best to avoid any technology from the future. ‘They’d be cheating,’ Cobalt usually tells me."

S’mourice chuckled. “Oh please, Ke! There are several games out there beyond our arcade that utilize tech that goes beyond that! They’re not just limited to temporal studies either. Spaceships, directed energy weapons, advanced drones, even power exoskeletons!”

"Yes, but what Cobalt says goes." Ke replied, "It would make things too easy for them to just get a cheat sheet from the future. Everything else is fair-game. If you get a gigatronic microsplancer from the Gul-thar, then you get to reverse-engineer it. Cobalt only lets the Scientists do that, so they are actually doing their jobs. ‘You don’t learn from copying down notes and handing them in’ he’s told me as well." The reptile paused to catch her breath. " I think Cobalt prefers to do everything in the more complicated fashions."

"I see. So that’s how he does it." The boy nodded his head in understanding. "I think he prefers that they learn how to recreate and apply the tech on their own. Still, I could always submit some stuff to him from some of my connections. I think he and the research team might like them."

"I’d bet that he would." She replied, sipping her tea.

"Only if he has the opportunity, of course." S’mourice spent the rest of the time making short talk with the reptilian girl. He’d throw in a quip or two and sometimes offer a few ideas.

The lizardess listened as she wrote down the ideas, and put them in her breast pocket.

When all was done and finished, S’mourice cleaned out the pitcher and cup for Ke before helping her up. “Well, it was great to have you here, again, Ke. I really enjoyed enjoying spending time with you, but Cobalt is probably waiting for you.”

Ke frowned. She didn’t want to leave, but she didn’t want to disobey her master at the same time… “Cobalt’s spending time with a few of his friends, as well..” She said, “But I’m sure you’re right..” She fiddled with the frilly bottom of her shirt, and looked at the ground. “It was a good time seeing you..!” Ke said, “Please visit some time..! I’ll make you something, along with Cobie… You two and I would have so much fun together.”

"But of course, Ke! I’d love to visit on one of my off days!" S’mourice replied as he walked her out. It seemed a tad premature to dismiss Ke, but he didn’t want her ‘family’ in Genesis Racing to worry. Still, he could always wait until he gets to go there himself again. "It’s a pleasure having you over, Ke!"

With that, Ke have S’mourice a big hug, lifting him off the ground as she did so. “It was nice coming over..! I missed you so much!”

S’mourice smiled before hugging his reptilian friend back. “I’ve missed you too, Ke. It was nice to have you here again!”

Ke nodded with a smile and turned to walk away, starting her trek back to Genesis Racing.

A knock sounded at the door.
